Back Cover is the party game where everyone shouts clues and one player guesses. If something isn’t working, or you have an idea for a deck, email hello@canopuslabs.co.uk and we’ll get back to you.
How to play
- Choose a deck, tap Play, set up your teams and tap Start Game.
- Pass the phone to whoever is guessing. They hold it on their forehead, screen facing out, on its side, without peeking.
- Their team describes the word, acts it out or sings it, but never says it. Tilt the phone down for a correct guess and up to pass, or tap Correct and Pass.
- When time runs out, the next team takes its turn. After the last round, the team with the most wins.
Your own decks
On the home screen, scroll to Your Decks and tap New Deck. Give it a name and type or paste your cards, one a line, in any language. A single line of words with commas between them works too. A deck plays once it has ten cards. One deck of your own is free; All Decks lets you make as many as you like.
On iPhone Duo
Open your iPhone Duo and, when it’s your turn to guess, tap Hold It Like a Book. The word shows on the outer display, facing your team, while the back camera films them for a reaction reel; you see the timer, the score and Correct and Pass inside. After the round, save the reel to Photos or discard it. iOS decides when the outer display can show the word: keep Back Cover open full screen. If the word doesn’t appear, tap Play on the Forehead, and the round carries on the classic way.
Questions
- Tilting doesn’t answer. Check that Settings › Tilt to Answer is on, and hold the phone upright for a moment before each tilt: one nod is one answer. The Correct and Pass buttons always work.
- No sounds. Back Cover follows your iPhone’s Ring/Silent switch. Sounds can also be turned off in Settings.
- Reels aren’t saved to Photos. Allow Back Cover to add to Photos in Settings › Apps › Back Cover › Photos. Until then, Back Cover offers to share each reel instead.
- Restoring All Decks on a new iPhone. In Back Cover, tap the gear on the home screen, then Restore Purchases.
