Eyeline Teleprompter

Support

Eyeline scrolls your script right beside the camera while you record, so you can look at the lens instead of your notes. If something isn’t working, or you have an idea, email hello@canopuslabs.co.uk and we’ll get back to you.

Getting started

  • Open a script (or add one with the + button: write, paste, or import a text or Markdown file).
  • Tap Record, then the red button. After the countdown, the camera records and the words scroll. Tap the words to pause, and drag them to find your place.
  • Follow My Voice (Pro), the waveform button in the studio, scrolls the script as you read it aloud instead of at a set speed. Pause and it stops listening; drag the words and it follows on from there.
  • Prompt shows the script full screen without the camera, for a stand or a beam-splitter rig. Settings › Voice, Speed and Text can mirror it for the glass.
  • Interview (Pro) turns each line of a script into a question, one at a time.

Hands free

While you record, press a volume button or Camera Control, or the stem of your AirPods, to start or stop the take. (AirPods camera control isn’t available in every country or region.) A Bluetooth presentation clicker or keyboard moves the script: Space pauses, the arrows move a few words, Page Up and Page Down move a paragraph, and Return starts or stops the take. Settings › Remote Controls lists every key.

On iPhone Duo

Open your iPhone Duo, tap Record and switch to the back camera with the camera button. While the camera runs, your script appears on the outer display, right beside the lens, so you can look straight into the main camera. This is part of Eyeline Pro. iOS decides when the outer display can show it: keep Eyeline open and the camera running.

Questions

  • Clips stop after a minute. Free clips are up to one minute long; Eyeline Pro records for as long as you like.
  • Using an external microphone. Plug in a USB-C or Lightning microphone, or connect a Bluetooth one such as AirPods, and Eyeline uses it. The microphone button in the studio chooses between them.
  • Recordings aren’t saved to Photos. Allow Eyeline to add to Photos in Settings › Apps › Eyeline › Photos. Until then, Eyeline offers to share each clip instead.
  • Voice-follow scrolls at a set speed instead. It needs the microphone (Settings › Apps › Eyeline › Microphone) and Apple’s speech model for your script’s language, which downloads once, so connect to the internet the first time. If it can’t listen, the words scroll at your set speed and the studio says why.
  • Restoring Pro on a new iPhone. In Eyeline, go to Settings › Restore Purchases.
  • Cancelling a subscription. Open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Eyeline Pro. Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews.
