Fold & Play is backgammon, chess and draughts in one set, to play face to face on one iPhone or against the computer. If something isn’t working, or you have an idea, email hello@canopuslabs.co.uk and we’ll get back to you.

Getting started

• The first screen shows each game’s board as you left it. Tap Play to start, or Continue to carry on.
• Choose Two players, or Against the computer at Easy, Medium or Hard and on the side you like, then tap Start.
• Face to face, for two players: lay your iPhone flat between you, and the far player’s side of the table turns to face them, with their name, buttons, dice and chess pieces.

Playing

• Tap a piece, then where it goes.
• In backgammon, tap Roll, then a checker and the point it moves to, and Done when you’ve played your roll. A checker on the bar comes back in when you tap the point it enters on.
• The undo button in your corner takes back a move.
• The menu in your corner has the Rules, New game, Resign and Leave the table. Leaving keeps the game just as it is.

On iPhone Duo

Open your iPhone Duo and lay it flat: the fold becomes the board’s hinge. Backgammon’s bar sits on the crease, and the chessboard divides exactly between its halves. Nothing you tap sits on the fold, and the purchase screen, a new game, Settings and the rules open as two pages either side of it. Folded, the cover display plays like any iPhone.

The Full Set

Draughts is free. Backgammon and chess come with the Full Set, one purchase that’s yours for good and shared with your family through Family Sharing. To get it on another iPhone, tap Restore at the top of the purchase screen, or go to Settings › Restore Purchases in Fold & Play.

Questions

• Where’s my game? Each game saves as you play. Tap Continue on the first screen. Starting a new game of the same kind replaces the saved one.
• I resigned by mistake. Tap undo: it takes back the resignation.
• The computer is too strong, or too easy. Choose Easy, Medium or Hard when you start a new game.
• Letters and numbers around the chessboard. Turn them on or off in Settings › Chessboard coordinates.
• Backgammon’s doubling cube. It isn’t in this version: games score a single game, a gammon or a backgammon.
• Refunds. Purchases are made through Apple, so Apple handles refunds, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
