Spread

Privacy Policy

Last updated 9 October 2026

Spread is a recipe book made by Canopus Labs Ltd. In short: Spread collects no data. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and Spread has no servers of its own. Nothing you add, import or cook is sent to us.

What stays on your iPhone

  • Your recipes (their titles, ingredients, steps, notes, tags, photos, and the site you imported each from) are stored on your iPhone, inside the app, and in your iPhone’s own backups if you make them.
  • Your kitchen timers and settings, such as how your recipes are sorted, are stored in the app’s own preferences on your iPhone.

Importing from a web page

When you import a recipe from a web page, Spread fetches that page straight from its website, as Safari would, and reads the recipe it publishes, with its photo. The request goes from your iPhone to that site and never through us. As with any visit, the site sees your IP address and which page was asked for, under its own privacy policy. Spread keeps no cookies or browsing history from these requests.

Photos

To add a photo to a recipe, you choose it in Apple’s photo picker. Spread receives only the photo you choose and can’t see the rest of your library, so it never asks for access to Photos. The photo is kept with the recipe on your iPhone.

Apple Intelligence

With Spread Pro, Sort with Apple Intelligence turns text you paste into a recipe using Apple’s on-device model. The text is processed on your iPhone. It isn’t sent to us or to anyone else.

Notifications

Spread uses notifications only for your kitchen timers and, if you ask for it after starting a free trial, one reminder two days before the trial ends. They are scheduled on your iPhone. Spread sends no push notifications and no marketing.

Purchases

Spread Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment, and we receive no personal or payment details. The app checks your purchase with Apple’s StoreKit on your iPhone. Apple’s privacy policy applies to purchases.

Your choices

  • You can turn notifications off at any time in your iPhone’s Settings › Apps › Spread › Notifications. Timers still run, and sound while Spread is open.
  • Importing from the web and Sort with Apple Intelligence run only when you use them.

Keeping and deleting

Your recipes and settings stay on your iPhone until you delete them in the app, or delete the app. Copies in your iPhone’s backups are kept for as long as you keep those backups. We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to delete or hand over.

Children

Spread is for cooks of all ages. It collects no data from anyone, children included.
