Spread

Support

Spread keeps your recipes and cooks them with you: big, clear steps, timers you start with a tap, and a screen that stays awake. If something isn’t working, or you have an idea, email hello@canopuslabs.co.uk and we’ll get back to you.

Getting started

  • Tap the + button to add a recipe. Import from a Web Page takes a recipe page’s address and saves the recipe. Paste Recipe Text sorts text you’ve copied into a recipe for you to check before saving. Write a Recipe starts from blank.
  • Sort with Apple Intelligence (Pro) appears in Paste Recipe Text on iPhones that support Apple Intelligence. It turns a pasted caption, note or message into a tidy recipe, on your iPhone.
  • Open a recipe and tap Start Cooking. Each step fills the screen. When a step has a time, tap its timer button to start it.
  • More Servings and Fewer Servings scale every amount in the recipe.

On iPhone Duo

Open your iPhone Duo and Spread lays out like a cookbook: your recipes on the left page and the one you chose on the right. In cook mode the ingredients are on the left page and the current step is on the right, with the ingredients that step uses picked out. Stand it half-open on the counter. Fold it mid-recipe and you keep your place, your ticks and your servings.

Timers

Timers keep running when you close cook mode or leave Spread, and show at the top of your recipes. To hear a timer while Spread isn’t open, allow notifications: Spread asks when you start your first timer, or you can turn them on in Settings › Apps › Spread › Notifications. Leave Time Sensitive Notifications on there so a timer can ring during a Focus.

Spread Pro

The free library holds 25 recipes. Spread Pro keeps as many as you like and adds Sort with Apple Intelligence. It’s a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-off Lifetime purchase. If your subscription ends, you keep every recipe you have; only adding more stops.

Questions

  • A page won’t import. Spread reads the recipe details a site publishes for search engines, which most recipe sites do. If a page doesn’t have them, or needs you to sign in, Spread offers Paste the Recipe Text: copy the recipe from the page and paste it in.
  • Sort with Apple Intelligence doesn’t appear. It needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings › Apple Intelligence & Siri. While it’s getting ready, Spread says so. Pasted text is still sorted by Spread’s own reader.
  • Moving to a new iPhone. Your recipes are kept on your iPhone and move with its backup (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) or when you transfer to a new iPhone. Spread doesn’t sync recipes between devices yet.
  • Restoring Pro on a new iPhone. In Spread, go to Settings › Restore Purchases.
  • Cancelling a subscription. In Spread, go to Settings › Manage Subscription. Or open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Spread Pro. Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews.
